  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Optional: zest of ½ lemon for brightness
  • For the Creamy Mashed Potatoes
  • 1 kg 2.2 lb potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)
  • 60 g 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 120 ml ½ cup warm milk or cream
  • Salt to taste
  • White pepper or black pepper optional
  • Optional: 1 clove garlic boiled with the potatoes
  • For the Glazed Carrots
  • 500 g 1 lb carrots, peeled and sliced lengthwise
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish optional
